Carolyn Benson originally trained in the restoration of ancient buildings & antique furniture, and worked on many listed buildings. She established Benson Studios in 2004, after collaborating extensively with amongst others, the late Victoria Waymouth, leading the teams in all specialist areas of interior decorating and has collaborated extensively with many renowned designers.
Projects have included residences in London and the UK, Europe, U.S , Asia & the Middle East. The architecture of the building being paramount the studio works closely with architects.
As the clients are always very diverse, the approach is to reflect an individual narrative with an eclectic mix of antique and contemporary. The Studio works with skilled craftsmen including bespoke joinery, textile weaving and printing, specialist finishes, applied arts, and their own range of custom hand-made leather rugs. Benson Studios prefers not to be limited to an archetypal look.
Benson Studios have been listed since 2006 in House & Garden magazine’s ‘100 UK leading interior designers’. Current projects include 2 London apartments, a large townhouse, the refurbishment of a substantial 1930’s block in central London, an atelier in Paris, on-going restorations on 2 listed buildings in the west of England , and a chalet in the French Alps. The Studio is aiming to move to a new workshop building in North West London soon.
